Dearborn police are seeking an heist suspect on the loose within the area of Schaefer and Butler roads in Dearborn, Sgt. Emilee Williams told the press at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.
She was unable to supply details because the situation was unfolding in real time.
No shots had been fired near the situation to the simplest of everyone's understanding at the time.
The situation is "still fluid" and therefore the public is asked to avoid the world , Williams said.
While things involves police near the Ford Rouge complex, initial reports indicate it's not a lively shooter situation or a workplace violence incident.
Meanwhile, Kelli Felker, Ford spokeswoman, said, "We have locked down all buildings at the Rouge site to stay our workforce safe after Dearborn police notified us they're checking out an armed and dangerous individual on AK Steel property. The AK Steel property is found inside the gates at the Rouge site but isn't a Ford facility."
No one at AK Steel might be immediately reached for comment. Three messages are left with the corporate .
UAW spokesman Brian Rothenberg, whose labor organization represents workers at both Ford and AK Steel, said during a statement, "At this point , it's our understanding that no shots are fired and our employees at both AK Steel and Ford within the Rouge Complex are safe and in lockdown ... At now , it appears to not be workplace related. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dearborn Police and every one who are on lockdown during this situation .”
